In June of 2006, Ken Baer and I founded Democracy: A Journal of Ideas to provide a spur for big, new thinking on the major challenges facing America and a space for serious debates among progressives about what we stand for. In its first full year, it received the Best New Publication prize from the Independent Press Awards.
